Romanesque
was the artistic style which spread throughout Western
Europe
from the 11th to 13thcenturies.
Romanesque is a medieval art, but it was called so, because of its
recalling to Roman Art. In England it is also called Norman
art.
One of the most impressive Norman (Romanesque) Cathedral in England is the Durham Cathedral. This, was built since 1093 and it is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look at the following video and try to see the main characteristics of Romanesque architecture in this building.
En el siguiente enlace tenéis todas las instrucciones para realizar el proyecto EL ARTE ROMÁNICO. Recordad que lo más importante es la originalidad por lo tanto no se espera de vosotros que copiéis nada de Internet.
When you look up some information on the Internet there are many sites and not only Wikipedia. Try to find information in the Museum where you work of art is or in the official site of the monument you are finding out.
Below you can find a document which can be used as introduction:
The next days we will start a new
unit: The Feudalism, so the history of Europe from 800 to around 1300
AD. What was life in castel like? and in a Monastery? What were the
diferences between being a knight or a servant? What was the romanesque
art like?
We will try to respond to these questions in class, but for now you can
use the next sites, and videos as an introduction to the unit.
What is Feudalism?
What was society like?
