Romanesque
was the artistic style which spread throughout Western
Europe
from the 11th to 13th
centuries.
Romanesque is a medieval art, but it was called so, because of its
recalling to Roman Art. In England it is also called Norman
art.
One of the most impressive Norman (Romanesque) Cathedral in England is the Durham Cathedral. This, was built since 1093 and it is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look at the following video and try to see the main characteristics of Romanesque architecture in this building.
